I was the kid who always had a camera, then the college friend who always had a camera, and eventually the adult with actual baggies full of printed photos to prove it.

During COVID, I started turning that camera toward people in a more intentional way. What began as something creative to do kept growing. I learned the technical stuff, experimented, shot a whole lot of people, and somewhere along the way started figuring out not just how I wanted to photograph, but what I wanted my photographs to feel like.

These days, I'm much less interested in putting someone in the perfect pose and much more interested in making photographs that feel like them. Movement. Personality. Interesting light. Unexpected places. The shot between the shots. And occasionally an idea that makes us both say, “Wait. That could be really cool.”

We'll still get the photo Grandma wants. I just want to make some art while we're at it.
